Click the above map for the main Google Maps map application for 2011.
The map has also been implemented using a Bing Maps (Virtual Earth) base map. This does not support multi-touch devices and is broken by FireFox 4.

Individual layers can be hidden using the "Toggle Layers" buttons at the bottom.

The ASTER Satellite Image layer is a near infra-red daytime image taken by the ASTER imaging instrument flying on the NASA EOS Terra satellite. This is taken from the ASTA Volcano Archive (AVA) for Arenal. These images are available via Smithsonian's Global Volcanism pages for Arenal. This particular image was acquired on 29th August 2005, and has a Granule ID of SC:AST_L1A.003:2030725270.
The black and white aerial photograph was supplied by Leaves & Lizards. It was taken after the cabins and main house were built, but before the first teak plantations were planted.
The remaining layers are KML files, created using student field data. The boundary of the main Leaves and Lizards property is taken from Costa Rica Land Registry data.
