Maps: Virtual Earth

This map is also available with a

This provided the best mapping solution for the original 2008 mapping season, allowing for better
zoomed-in capabilities for the Leaves and Lizards property. It has reduced coverage of the Costa Rica area and
Microsoft Virtual Earth's capabilities have increased to the point that the above fully functional Virtual Earth map is
now practical.
Notes
Position the mouse over an icon or shape on the Icons layer, so see information about the icon.
Individual layers can be hidden using the layers box in the upper right. This can also be hidden be clicking on the "x".
Virtual Earth's 3d mode also works but the layer selection box will not be visible. You will also need to install the Virtual Earth 3D control if you do not already have it.

The ASTER Satellite Image layer is a near infra-red daytime image taken by the ASTER imaging instrument flying on the NASA EOS Terra satellite. This is taken from the ASTA Volcano Archive (AVA) for Arenal. These images are available via Smithsonian's Global Volcanism pages for Arenal. This particular image was acquired on 29th August 2005, and has a Granule ID of SC:AST_L1A.003:2030725270.
The remaining layers are KML files, created using student field data. The boundary of the main Leaves and Lizards property is taken from Costa Rica Land Registry data.
